There is an old saying that goes “He who sets out for revenge should dig two graves.” It’s a true statement. Having anger and resentment towards anyone or anything has negative consequences that is concentrated more on the bearer of the grudge than the object of the anger. If your anger is release, it allows one to move forward.

Motivation of the day

Ever get up in the morning and stub your toe on the bed post, saying to yourself it will that type of day and lo and behold at the end of the day you realize you was right.

Well of course, look for a fight and you will eventually get what you wish for , look for money and it will eventually come to you ! Well , you will need to work for it.

It’s all in your mind, it’s like the matrix when Neo realize that the real world is living underground while robots are consuming the world resources and trying to kill the human race. Do you think that all this is real? Governments own major news agencies and pump our mind with information that will lead to a outcome that will benefit a group of influential and wealthy people. It’s like the banks that were on the brink of catastrophe and inside one financial quarter would start making money again, well a new accounting rule laid down in 2009 gave them the right to hide does loses and make the people think that all is well.

Ok enough with the conspiracy theory, back to my toe on the side of the bed. Do you remember how you feel when something like that happens or when you spill you’re coffee on your shirt just before an important meeting? You are mad, your state changes and if you stay in this type of context for the rest of the day , you will have a bad day.

First step to changing your day if you get on a bad start is to realize that you are in a bad mood and that you must change the context. Then start thinking of something funny that happen in your life, picture it , play that movie in your head and start smiling and then thank the person you want for this beautiful day that will be filled with pleasure and excitement.

It’s all in our head , will you make money today , will you get drunk , will you cheat on your wife …

Will all depend on the way you will handle you present state of mind and the matrix that you will create in your mind.

Analyzing the market to start your business

When you want to start a business it is of great importance you work on a business plan before anything else , you want to make sure your investment will not go down the drain because you haven’t taken the time to research the market.

One model I love to use for my business plan is the one coming from Porter and the model of the five market forces. The link from Wikipedia explains the model very well, but I will give you some examples from here in Asia. On every corner street you can find a cell phone shop , selling cell phones and prepaid cards. If we use porters Model we can see that completion is fears since there are many shop (Rivalry among  existing firms). Entrance in the market is very easy, get a shop , buy some phones and distribute some prepaid cards. Good for you? Not really, it means that even more competition could be coming since it’s easy to enter the market.

Customer and reseller bargaining power – You think a small shop can bargain with cell phone companies!  And then the high concentration of competitors will reduce your bargaining power with consumers and will reduce your profit margins.

Threat of substitute product would be like a sporting event or the theater VS the movies, all are in the entertainment business but are substitute services. For our cell phones shop , none for now.

Skype on a Smartphone using IP wireless to call a friend would be a eventual substitute.

So does that mean I wouldn’t invest in this type of store, not necessarily! You need to innovate and differentiate you self from all other stores. Add services your competition doesn’t have or sell products that you would only have in your store.

So before investing take the time to study the market, don’t just type your business plan for the bank.
